Want to star in a Jamie Oliver TV show?

Christmas is THE ulitmate foodie fest, somehow food has become central to the festivities and although we understand the meaning of Christmas, in our increasingly secular world it's the food and the gifts that are the focus rather than the religion.

So for many of us, getting the Christmas lunch or dinner right is very, very important and it's when that pressure is applied that there just might be the chance that things don't quite go as planned.

I am fortunate that I can't remember anything going horribly wrong at Christmas.  I write out my lists, prepare as much in advance as possible and have the advantage of being brought up by a mother who was an excellent cook!  Don't get me wrong, I have had my share of disasters but just not on Christmas Day!

While this might be good news for my family, it does rather rule me out of getting on TV as part of Jamie Oliver's latest TV if you have had a Christmas dinner disaster - it might be your lucky day!

  1. lol janice, you look so happy in that picture! I don't think I have any christmas disasters either, though I remember my mum trying to defrost a turkey a bit too late...and I think we ended up eating christmas lunch at about 10pm that particular year

  2. Oh no!!! I think I embarrass myself enough as it is on my blog let alone to an entire nation on a TV show lol. Still, I look forward to seeing the show ;0)

  3. LOVE the photo of you Janice and also your Christmas spread too! One BIG disaster was when our two cats "stole" the defrosting turkey and dragged it to their lair ~ we never found it until boxing day and had to have a late lunch of a small chicken from the freezer!

  4. You couldn't be happier in that picture! The show sounds good. We once made a Christmas pudding, half was steamed, other half microwaved. We had to throw the microwave out it got so burnt. The stench was indescribable.

  5. Thanks for your comments, remember to email your disasters to

  6. Look at that spread... for the first time this year I've just experienced a "xmassy" giddiness!

    Loving the electric carver :D
